Job Purpose

To lead on customer relations activity and contribute to the development of an enquirer and applicant communications strategy for the higher education market, ensuring that this links clearly to marketing campaign activity at all levels of study.

 

To implement and monitor effective marketing communications as part of the External Relations (ER) strategy to grow the number and quality of applications of both domestic and overseas students. To develop and deliver recruitment and conversion activity across both undergraduate and postgraduate levels working with colleagues in the Recruitment Marketing team, the Colleges and other key stakeholders both internally and externally, ensuring an integrated approach across a variety of media.

 

To manage key strands of activity within the recruitment marketing team, ensuring timely delivery of email campaigns and other media and events.

To coordinate the production of promotional material, ensuring consistent and effective communication of key messages to current and prospective students.

 

Main Duties

1. Lead on the continued implementation of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems including Dotdigital, Gecko and other communication platforms to support the recruitment of students. This will include leading on the design, configuration, build and testing of new functionalities.

2. Implement systems to ensure consistent enquiry data capture and management whilst developing creative communications to both undergraduate and postgraduate audiences. Liaising with colleagues, provide guidance on brand and design and ensure production meets key recruitment deadlines. Plan and execute digital recruitment activity aimed at recruiting prospective Undergraduate, Postgraduate Taught, Postgraduate Research and Online Distance Learning, UK and international students.

3. Manage marketing e-communications: writing, editing and proof-reading promotional material for External Relations and other University-wide publications. This includes the management of student recruitment e-communications, including audience segmentation, concept creation, copywriting, image selection, liaising with contacts across schools/colleges/services to gather relevant information and edit where required.

4. Continually manage and develop the University’s CRM capabilities relating to student recruitment and enquiry management.

5. Look at current business processes and requirements identified by users and identify potential improvements through the implementation of CRM platforms.

6. Provide suitable training and development in CRM platforms to colleagues, provide support, training and advice on the use of CRM platforms ensuring currency of information and a straightforward user journey.

7. Support market research/insight and user experience activities to ensure communication content and delivery is timely and appropriate for stakeholder audiences.

8. Undertake any other duties as required by the Student Recruitment Marketing Manager.

 

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Knowledge/Qualifications

Essential:

A1 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar or number of different roles,** or, **Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 9, (Ordinary Degree, Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4), or equivalent (including professional accreditation with relevant formal training), and experience of personal development in a similar or related role(s).

A2 Thorough knowledge and understanding of work practices policies and procedures, relevant to the role, which may include broader sector/commercial awareness.

A3 Detailed operational knowledge of systems relevant to profession and/or specialism in terms of functionality and capability and/or detailed knowledge of work area.

 

Skills

Essential:

C1 Project management skills including the ability to lead campaigns and influence colleagues.

C2 Analytical and problem-solving capability.

C3 Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills.

C4 Ability to manage and control assigned budgets in accordance with University policy and procedures, where appropriate.

C5 Proven ability to deliver training of operational systems relevant to the profession.

 

Experience

Essential:

E1 Experience of planning and progressing work activities within professional guidelines or organisational policy, applying initiative and independent judgement.

E2 Experience of conducting market research to inform content creation.

E3 Experience in using sector recognised marketing platforms and engagement tools such as Unibuddy, Gecko and DotDigital.

 

Desirable:

F1 Experience of using editing software such as Adobe Photoshop.

 

Terms and Conditions

Salary will be Grade 7, £40,497 - £45,413 per annum.

 

This post is full time and fixed term for up to 6 months from start date
