Job description
Job Purpose
To play a pivotal role in developing, managing, and delivering engaging multimedia content that showcases the cutting-edge research, education and innovation within the College of Medical, Veterinary & Life Sciences (MVLS). You will collaborate with multiple stakeholders to create compelling multimedia content that shares the story of the College, effectively communicating its mission to diverse audiences.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Lead the creation multimedia content that supports the KPI delivery of the College strategies including videos, photography, podcasts, infographics and animations, ensuring high-quality, accurate, and visually appealing materials that targets and responds to our key external audiences in line with the University and College strategic priorities.
2. Lead the visual direction for multimedia content across the College, aligned to our strategic priorities.
3. Create and manage an end-to-end booking and production process of multimedia content, ensuring that clients and the team have an effective process that delivers successful content.
4. Provide specialist expertise and guidance to educate colleagues across the College to understand the various multimedia options, formats, and their applications on different multimedia channels. Leading a Community of Practice to support this endeavour.
5. To play a leading role in collaborating closely across all Schools, College Services, and External Relations to identify content needs and opportunities for showcasing the College's achievements and activities.
6. To actively monitor and utilise analytics and audience feedback to measure the effectiveness of content and make data-driven decisions to enhance engagement and reach.
7. Ensure all multimedia content aligns with the College and University visual identity, messaging guidelines, and quality standards.
8. To continually keep up to date with current industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in multimedia content creation to ensure the College remains at the forefront of innovation.
9. Collaborate and maintain effective operational relationships with external partners and agencies as needed to supplement internal capabilities and deliver exceptional multimedia content.
10. Create and continually review the College's multimedia content repository, ensuring easy accessibility for various channels and purposes. Implement metadata and tagging systems to facilitate efficient content retrieval and organization.
11. Line manage a small team, providing leadership, guidance, and professional development opportunities. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team, ensuring alignment with College-wide objectives.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Knowledge/Qualifications
Essential:
A1 SCQF level 9 (Ordinary Degree, Scottish Vocational level 4) or equivalent in a relevant discipline/business area, and experience of personal development in a similar or related role (s),
A2 Extensive knowledge and expertise of multimedia content creation.
A3 Comprehensive knowledge of accessibility requirements of content.
A4 Detailed knowledge of end-to-end multimedia production processes.
A5 Extensive knowledge of video and photo editing software.
Desirable
B1 Project management qualification and thorough understanding of project management methodologies.
Skills
Essential:
C1 Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with a wide range of internal stakeholders (e.g., staff/students) to create compelling content.
C2 Excellent ability to project manage large multimedia productions.
C3 Ability to create storyboards, draft compelling scripts and visual outlines, create shot lists, and production schedules.
C4 Excellent skills in sound mixing, noise reduction, and syncing audio.
C5 Good understanding of colour correction and grading techniques.
C6 Ability to optimise titles, tags, descriptions, and thumbnails for search and platform algorithms.
C7 Advanced photo editing and retouching capabilities.
Experience
Essential:
E1 Experience of team management either in a private, public, third sector and/or HE setting.
E2 Experience of social media channel management.
E3 Proven ability to critique content and provide constructive feedback as appropriate.
E4 Experience with professional video cameras, DSLRs, drones, microphones, and lighting equipment.
E5 Aligning video content with organisational goals and target audiences.
E6 Ability to use a variety of tools like YouTube analytics, Vimeo stats, or social media insights to evaluate performance and refine strategies.
E7 Proficiency in shooting high-quality photos.
E8 Experience in creating video and photo content optimised for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, and TikTok.
E9 Detailed experience with Adobe After Effects or similar tools for adding animations, titles, and effects.
Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 7, £40,247 - £45,163 per annum.
This post is full time and open ended. Relocation assistance will be provided where appropriate.
